Films I want to see now - John Carter

John Carter of Mars is now John Carter.  But whatever Disney name the film it is still an interesting production.  With Disney being in charge I am afraid that the film will become a somewhat toothless (for toothless read no nudity and only stylized, bloodless, violence) movie.

Still Edgar Rice Burroughs hopefully wont be spinning in his grave when the final film comes out.

Here is the trailer for John Carter.

Films I want to see now - The Pirates...

Aardman animations produced Wallace and Gromit.  They are also responsible for Chicken Run and Flushed Away.

Now they have made a film about Pirates, hurrah!

In England it is called The Pirates: In an adventure with Scientists, but in America it seems to be called The Pirates! Band of Misfits.  I prefer the English title because it seems to be more whimsical which fits with Aardmans style.  But whatever this looks great.  I'm in.

This is the uk trailer (I think)...

This is the US trailer (again I think I have that the right way round)...

Films I want to see now - Contagion

Steven Soderbergh is an amazing director.  He is unafraid to push the limits of film and story and although his films don't always appeal to me there is always something in them that makes them worth watching.

Horror is my favourite genre of film and this trailer gives me shivers (even though I suspect that this doesn't quite count as an out and out horror film.)

Films I want to see now - The Iron Lady

I'm a bit of a Thatcherite at heart.  All of England's Prime Ministers since have seemed a bit... well wet.  Clearly she went a bit mental at the end of her reign but I am still fascinated by her and can't wait to see this.

Films I want to see now - A Dangerous Method.

Three people in my family have studied psychology to some degree at some point, me, my sister and my mother have all written about Freud and Jung for some lecturer or other.

So a film written by Christopher Hampton who wrote Dangerous Liasons (a personal favourite), directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley is going to spark some interest in my family at least.

The trailer looks good and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Oh, I nearly forgot, Vincent Cassel is also in it and as he is a 27% er that makes the film fairly awesome already!!!

Films I want to see now - Killer Elite

Jason Statham and Clive Owen in what looks like a fun assassins film, you say?  Robert De Niro is in it too and he seems to be in bad ass mode?  They use 'Rock me like a Hurricane' in the trailer?

Hmm, go on then, you know I want to.  How about you?  Let me know what you think...
