Films I want to see now - A Dangerous Method.
Three people in my family have studied psychology to some degree at some point, me, my sister and my mother have all written about Freud and Jung for some lecturer or other.
So a film written by Christopher Hampton who wrote Dangerous Liasons (a personal favourite), directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley is going to spark some interest in my family at least.
The trailer looks good and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Oh, I nearly forgot, Vincent Cassel is also in it and as he is a 27% er that makes the film fairly awesome already!!!
Films I want to see now - Killer Elite
Jason Statham and Clive Owen in what looks like a fun assassins film, you say? Robert De Niro is in it too and he seems to be in bad ass mode? They use 'Rock me like a Hurricane' in the trailer?
Hmm, go on then, you know I want to. How about you? Let me know what you think...

Obsequiousmelon found much to love in Super 8
Name of the Film: Super 8
Starring: Joel Courtney, Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning.
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
Or at least so says the official website. Super 8 is somewhat of a dark horse for this summer. Strange that, considering it is directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg. But as usual J. J. Abrams projects are shrouded in secrecy and apart from the train wreck and the missing dogs the trailer gives us nothing much to work with. This meant I went into the cinema slightly nervous of what was coming...

Obsequiousmelon has found a film that repulsed him - The Human Centipede.
Name of the Film: The Human Centipede
Starring: Dieter Laser, Ashley C. Williams, Ashlynn Yennie.
I love horror films. They are by far my most favourite genre of films ever since I watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors when I was eight. That means I have been watching horror films for 23 years and never once have I been repulsed by one, but I was by The Human Centipede.
I mean, let me be clear, I have watched a film that I thought was gross before. Like the Saw films for example. But them being gross was part of the entertainment, inventive kills have become a part of horror films ever since the second slasher film was made, and have been integral to the genre ever since, as films try to outdo each other.
So where does that leave The Human Centipede?

The picture above is of David Tennant as Peter Vincent.
The Fright Night remake is starting to look like it might be fairly awesome! Click read more to see the trailer...

X-men First Class review.
Name of the Film: X-Men First Class
Starring: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon
It feels to me as though the X-men trilogy started by Bryan Singer and ended by Brett Ratner was in many ways responsible for kick starting the superhero craze we seem to have now. It showed studios the comic book films didn’t have to be silly and that there was a market out there for superhero films that weren’t a Batman sequel, reboot, re-imagining thing.
It is then slightly ironic that this latest entry into the X-men cannon comes from the same creative team that directed the largely subversive but brilliant in every way Kick Ass, a film that turned the traditional comic book movie on it’s head in many ways.

Films I have to see now - Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer2
I'm still not super convinced about this film but I am getting more interested the more I see. The idea still seems silly, even if there are several hundred apes in that lab how do they take over the world? I don't get it but I find myself more inclined to find out after seeing this trailer.

What do you guys think? Dumb or awesome?
