Obsequiousmelon has found a film that repulsed him - The Human Centipede.

Name of the Film: The Human Centipede
Starring:  Dieter Laser, Ashley C. Williams, Ashlynn Yennie.
I love horror films.  They are by far my most favourite genre of films ever since I watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors when I was eight.  That means I have been watching horror films for 23 years and never once have I been repulsed by one, but I was by The Human Centipede.
I mean, let me be clear, I have watched a film that I thought was gross before.  Like the Saw films for example.  But them being gross was part of the entertainment, inventive kills have become a part of horror films ever since the second slasher film was made, and have been integral to the genre ever since, as films try to outdo each other.
So where does that leave The Human Centipede?

Well it is a horror film in the sense that what occurs is horrific but it is just awful in every respect.
The production values are cheap which can work in a films favour like in The Blair Witch or it can make a film look under funded, rushed and badly thought out as it does here.
The performances are bland at best and irritatingly poor at worst.  The two lead girls are particularly bad.  As characters they are irritating and stupid and as performances they are unbelievable and fake.  Of course they aren’t helped by the script which is pedestrian and the dialogue is particularly bad at points, it very quickly is reduced to monologues that are supposed to be unsettling but in fact are tired, cliched and boring.
Eventually you ask yourself what the point of the film is.  Is it a morality tale?  No because apart from being stupid the main girls don’t do anything wrong.  Is it a roller coaster(a horror film that doesn’t really have a message but takes you on a journey that is exciting and thrilling and scary)?  Again no because there is a complete lack of tension through out the whole movie!
I could go on but you get the point.
But still I haven’t answered the question, what is the point?  The only answer I can give is ego and attention.  I guess if you cant be talented then its cool to be infamous!  Reality TV taught us that.
I think that the main difference in this film (when compared to other horror films) is that we are asked to watch the continuous torture of three people.  We might not care about those people but watching a woman forced to consume another guys feces is not ever fun, especially when that woman’s mouth is surgically attached to the guys anus.  Hence the reason I was repulsed!
Apparently the sequel has been banned in the UK.  I can’t say I’m particularly bothered.
Did I enjoy the film?  No.
Would I recommend it to my friends?  No.
Will I buy it on DVD/Blu Ray?  No.
