Obsequiousmelon wishes that the wolf had got Red Riding Hood before he had to see it!

Name of the Film:  Red riding hood
Starring:  Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman
Slightly awkward dialogue?  Check.  Unconvincing love triangle?  Check.  Supposedly edgy bad boy who actually is incredibly safe and non threatening?  Check.  Turning something that used to be really cool into something incredibly gay?  Check.  Stupid people declaring undying love when they are clearly too young to know their arse hole from their elbow?  Check.  Catherine Hardwicke directing?  Check... There we have it, it can only be the twilight of werewolf movies... Bugger!
God damn you Catherine Hardwicke... God damn you!

Films I have to see now - Transformers, Fast Five, Thor, Green Lantern, The Mechanic, Arthur.

It's a relatively slow day today.  I'm getting excited about going to see Sucker Punch tomorrow (expect the review soon after) and I figured I would share some trailers about films I want to see that are coming up in the next few months.

Film news and tidbits!

I’ve got to be honest, I don’t really like Superman, never have.  But I am interested to see what Zack Snyder (guided by Christopher Nolan and using a script written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer) does with the whole concept.  Recent news has only increased my interest, apparently Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane.  I like her, she is good in everything I have seen her in.  She joins Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Clark Kent’s parents and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent.  This is starting to look promising.

Films I want to see now - TT3D

I love motorbikes.  It's a love affair that started when I was little after I heard tales of my mother riding around on a scooter when she was young.  It was then nurtured in my teens watching motor racing on tv, again with my mother.  In all that time I heard stories about the TT race on the Isle of Man.  It's one of those fabled races that England seems to produce, comparable in infamy to The Grand National Horse Race.
Here is the trailer for a new documentary TT3D, I don't know if it will be any good but, hell, I'm a sucker for fast bikes.

Obsequiousmelon had his world invaded and was a bit bored by it!

Name of the Film:  World Invasion / Battle LA (depending where you are from!  Why change the title because we are in Hong Kong????)
Starring:  Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez.
When meteorites are headed to the earth everyone stands in awe.  But as it becomes clear that the meteorites are slowing down before impact the army are put on alert and the whole planet becomes a war zone.
Aaron Eckhart is moved, from training future soldiers, back into active service with an already established unit.  Can they get over their personal differences to complete their rescue mission?
Can one unit of american soldiers save the world..?

Films I want to see now - Kill the Irishman

Kill the Irishman.  I don't care how crap the film turns out, this film looks brilliant from this trailer.  I love that Ray Stevenson gets to be bad ass and just look at the names in this!  It's got to be awesome surely...

Film news and tidbits.

Some of you may know that I am genuinely excited about the new Danny McBride / James Franco fantasy comedy Your Highness.

Well, we are only a month away and the character one sheets have been released.

Here is my favourite but the James Franco and Natalie Portman ones are cool too.

Follow the link to see the others.

Obsequiousmelon got in a lift with the Devil.

Name of the Film:  Devil
Starring:  Chris Messina, Caroline Dhavernas and Bokeem Woodbine.

When a group of people are trapped in a lift it soon becomes clear that there is something sinister at work...
Devil is the first film made by M Night Shyamalan’s production company The Night Chronicles, although I’m not sure that that would encourage many people to go and see it.
M Night Shyamalan clearly has some ability as a story teller but I can’t help but feel that his ego and initial success has long since damaged any initial promise he had.  Its a shame because I like the kind of movies he makes, the ideas are cool but the execution just seems too... pretentious.
So I like his stories but I don’t like his films.  Well then setting up a production company and letting young directors script and direct films based on his short stories seems at first glance like a good idea.

Obsequiousmelon entered into combat with Predators.

Name of the Film:  Predators
Starring:  Adrien Brody, Lawrence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga.

I first saw Predators at the cinema when it first came out.  Unfortunately I had been awake for a few days and was exhausted.  The dark cinema and the comfortable chairs meant that I fell asleep for about ten minutes.  So my opinion was not good but I was painfully aware that any view I had on the film was invalid because I probably missed something totally ninja right?
Well I like Robert Rodriguez films and I like both original Predator films (yes I accept that 2 isn’t in the same class as the first one but still I enjoy it) so I want Predators to be 54 flavours of awesome.
So I sat down to watch the dvd both nervous and excited.

Films I want to see now - Super

This one could go either way if I'm honest.  The trailer looks fun though.

I present to you... Super.  Directed by James Gunn who is responsible for Slither, a good movie with a bit of a non event ending.  Still this has Kevin Bacon in it and that means I am already going to see it!  Enjoy...

Film news and tidbits!

Does anyone care about Star Wars anymore?  Well if George Lucas becoming a money grabbing hack hasn’t totally irritated you by now then you can get excited about the 3D release date for The Phantom Menace - February 10 2012.  Yay... I guess!
How cool is this photo of the Red Skull from Captain America.

Thats Hugo Weaving under all that make up.  I'm so excited about this film.

Cool posters for iffy films.

The new Conan the barbarian film has a cool new poster.
I'm not sure about this film, I'll give it a chance but their isn't a big name attached to it and that makes me slightly nervous.
Still this poster is cool!

Film news and tidbits!

News round up for March 3rd.  Some cool stuff and some meh stuff!
